Obituary

Charles “Chick” Stanley Haron, son of Mary Isabel ( Gay ) and Charles Stanley Morton Haron passed away peacefully on June 14, 2010, after a long illness.

He was born at home at 80 Monk Street, Stoughton, MA on February 12, 1935.

He graduated from Brockton Trade High School, Class of 1955’. While in high school he was elected to represent his school at the Massachusetts State House Student Government Day as acting Metropolitan District Commissioner. During high school he studied drafting and served an apprenticeship in drafting at the Foxboro Company in Foxboro, MA. He was employed by the Foxboro Company until his retirement. He was a member of the United States Navy and the Mass. Naval Air Reserve and fulfilled his active military duty requirement at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station from 1957 to 1960.

Besides his children, his greatest love was gardening which he enjoyed sharing with family, friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, bird watching and in his younger days, playing basketball.

He was kind and loving and a wonderful friend. He was an active member of the Attleboro Area Association for Retarded Children for many years and headed up a very successful program for teenagers. He was involved with the local and state Special Olympics programs. He supported his son David in fulfilling the requirements for David to become an Eagle Scout.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Patricia ( Bishop ) Haron, his brother James Morton Haron and his nephew James “ Jay “ Matthew Haron.

He is survived by his former wife Jean of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and their three sons: Charles Daniel Haron and his wife Mary of Warwick, RI and their children, Kathryn, Carleigh and Courtney Haron and Michael, Jonathan and Patrick Glennon: David Christopher Haron of Portland and Cape elizabeth, ME; Thomas Rice Haron and his wife Cynthia of Farmingdale, NJ; and by their daughter Susan Elizabeth Haron De Cesare and her husband Lawrence and their children Liza, Bruce and Leah of South Portland, ME.

He is also survived by his step – daughter Terri Ross and husband Tim of Stoughton; Kim Dubose and husband Charles of Sumter, SC and their sons Kevin and Travis: Lori Williams and husband John of Okeechobee, FL and their children Derek, Patricia and John Jr. and great grandson Zachary; and by his step - son Arthur “ Tiger “ Bishop and his wife Carol of Stoughton and their sons Ryan and Brenton.

His family is greatful for the love and care of family and friends and particularly the love and care of his wonderful neighbors Howard and Christine Whitmarsh, that allowed Chick to stay in his home during his final illness.

His funeral service will be held on Friday June 18, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the Sheehan funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday June 17, 2010 from 5 – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. All are welcome to attend.
