Howard George Linwood Dawson of Lowgap, NC, passed away on June 10, 2010. Mr. Dawson was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Edwards Dawson and was born on February 21, 1938, in Carroll County, VA. He is survived by his wife Virginia Robinson Hawks of Lowgap; one daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Wesley Brannock of Ennice, NC; three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Mike Easter, Virgie and Bobby Lambert, and Vickie Hawks, all of Mount Airy, NC; 8 step grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 sisters, Ruby Sykes and Myrtle Taylor, both of Mount Airy, NC; Bertha Brannock, Inez Dawson and Irene Thompson, all of Cana, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Otto, Will, Edd and Alph Dawson; 2 sisters, Ruth McCraw and Clarsie Combs; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Cana, VA, on Saturday, June 19, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend David Sechrist and Reverend Oscar Hill conducting the service.
