Manuel F. Brown 86 of North Truro formerly of Provincetown died unexpectedly Saturday May 22, 2010 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of the late Frances (Allan) Brown who died in 1999. Born in Provincetown on April 18, 1924, , he was the son of the late Manuel E. and Lucy (Roderick) Brown. He was the former husband of the late Shirley (Veara) Brown who died in 1966. During WWII he served proudly in seven battles aboard a Flag Ship while stationed in the Philippines. He held the rank of Boatswain's mate.
After serving in the Navy he returned to his life in Provincetown where he became a carpenter, electrician and plumber. He built the Northern Lights Cottages on Shank Painter Rd. where he lived for a period of time. He then became the head of maintenance in the National Seashore Park Services where he worked for 20 years. He was also the trainer for young men entering the job corps program. He was also a member of the Provincetown Fire Department where he served for many years and later became a member of the Eastham Fire Department. He lived in Eastham for a few years and when he retired he moved to East Bridgewater. In 2000 he returned to the Cape and settling in Orleans. For the past few years he has lived in Truro with his daughter Dianne Peters and her husband John of North Truro. He is also survived by his daughter Cheryl Jackson – Harper and her husband Paul of Moore, OK, his stepson David Spencer of East Bridgewater, his stepdaughter Deborah Rock and her husband Arthur of Wareham, his 6 grandchildren, Adrian Peters and his wife Barbara of Provincetown, Tracy Peters and her husband Scott Stewart of Orleans, Stephen Jackson of Moore, OK, Diane McCall and her husband Michael of Oklahoma City, OK, Shelly Warlick and her husband Ronnie of Moore, OK, Edmund Jackson III and his wife Sherry of Garden City, GA, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is the brother of Mary Martinez of Provincetown. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Robert and Harold Brown, Lucille Bates Alfiera and Donalda Baldwin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown at 11:00am on Friday May 28, 2010 followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery Route 6 Eastham. Visiting hours are Thursday May 27th 4 - 7pm at the Gately – McHoul Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown.
