Obituary

Mr. Roberts died Thursday at the Brockton Hospital after a courageous battle against sinus cancer. Born and raised in Brockton, son of the late William F. and Greta (Barry) Roberts. Graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1955. Mr. Roberts was a former employee of Procter & Gamble for 36 years. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, The 100 Club, the Polish White Eagles Club and the Army Reserves. He was also a past treasurer of the Condo Association on Marco Island, Florida, where he owned a condo for many years. Affectionately known as “Bubba” to his friends and family, he enjoyed many good times with them at his home in South Yarmouth. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, clamming, skiing, and the Red Sox. With his frisky dog Marco by his side, many friends often gathered at his home on Cape Cod to barbecue, play dominoes, cribbage, party and tell stories. Although a man of few words, Barry always helped those in need, whether he was providing financial assistance, clothes, shoes, a ride or just a shoulder to lean on. Mr. Roberts was a good person who would listen and then get right to the task of lending a helping hand without any fanfare. He truly lived up to the saying that “much can be accomplished if no one has to get credit”.

Barry will be deeply missed by Nancy, his wife of 43 years, his sons, Ted of Baltimore, Maryland and Bryan of West Newton, MA, a brother Kenney Roberts of New Providence, Pennsylvania and a sister Jean Guarino of Bridgewater, eight nieces and nephews.
