Mary F. (Keeler) Demers, 68, of Mattapoisett died June 12, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family and friends after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was the loving wife of Robert F. Demers. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who touched the lives of all those who surrounded her in amazing ways.
Born in Melrose, the daughter of the late Frank T. and Helena M. (Sullivan) Keeler, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life.
Mrs. Demers was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of St. Vincent dePaul Society.
She was employed as the school nurse at Center School and Old Hammondtown School from 1982 to 2007 where the children were her life. Prior to that she was employed at the Mattapoisett Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband; 2 daughters, Michele Courville and her husband Timothy and Kathleen Demers-Vieira, all of New Bedford; a sister, Theresa Winslow of Melrose; 6 grandchildren, Alanna, Robert, Lucas, Sean, Julian and Benjamin; many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late George Keeler.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Wednesday, June 16th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church, 22 Barstow St. Mattapoisett at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, June 15th from 4-8 PM.
