Obituary

Alvin W. Durfee, Jr., 70, of Slavin Path, Chepachet, died Saturday June 12, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. A lifelong resident of Chepachet, he was the son of the late Alvin W. and Anna M. (Krause) Durfee, Sr.

Mr. Durfee, was a Serviceman for IBM for 25 years before retiring and proprietor of Sterling Service for the last 25 years. He was a member of Chepachet Union Church and the Glocester Senior Center, past Chairman of the Ancients & Horribles Parade, the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration.
He enjoyed antique cars and cruise nights.

He was adored by his children, Robin Connelly and her husband Keith of Mission Viejo, CA, Laurie Durfee and her husband John Greenhalgh of Chepachet, and Matthew Durfee of Glocester, loving grandfather of, Andrew, Matthew, Daniel and John. He was also survived by his former wife, Betty Durfee of Warren, his companion, Shirley Charron of St. Augustine, FL, a brother, Dr Wayne K. Durfee of South Kingstown

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 11am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. VisitationTuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906
