Obituary

Wallis G. Hocker, 88 of Windham, NH, died Sunday, November 2, 2003 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. Mr. Hocker was born in Owensboro, KY on July 1, 1915, a son of the late Bernie and Lena Hocker. He was a resident of Windham for the past four months, formerly living in Raleigh, NC, and the Summit, NJ area for many years. He was a graduate of Owensboro High School in Owensboro, KY. Mr. Hocker served as a Sergeant in the US Army and was awarded the Bronze Medal for his service during WWII. He was a pioneer in the credit card industry, working up to his last position as Vice President & General Credit Manager for the JC Penney Company, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Michels and her husband John of Londonderry, NH, Jeanne Michels and her husband Ed of Raleigh, NC, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one sister, Nancy Ward of Ownesboro, KY. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth (Popkins) Hocker in 1965 and his second wife, Marie (Bauer) Hocker in 1998.

There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00am in St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, NJ. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
