McNeill, Helen Claire (Burns) of Needham, formerly of Brighton, June 11, 2010, age of 77, after a brief illness.
Helen was born in Mission Hill, graduated from Mission High School, and Windham Secretarial School in Boston. She met her husband, Billy “Squawker” McNeill in 1953 and they married in 1955, raised a family of 4 sons in Brighton for many years, before moving to Needham in 1975, where she lived the rest of her life.
She worked in the State Treasurer’s office for many years, before retiring in 1993, to spend more time with her family and many friends, especially her grandchildren, who she loved so much. Helen was very active in St Bartholomew Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s of the America’s. She was a big fan of all of the Boston Sports Teams, and she enjoyed vacationing and dining with friends and family, especially going to the beach, as well as trips to Foxwoods, but most of all, she enjoyed just spending time with family and friends…..talking and laughing.
Beloved wife of the late Billy “Squawker” McNeill. Loving mother of Brian McNeill and his wife Margaret of Wellesley, Jim McNeill and his wife Julie of Mansfield, Bill McNeill and his wife Candy of Danvers, and Gary McNeill and his wife Kathleen of Needham.
Cherished Nana of Michael, Jennie, Ryan, Mikayla, Jake, Josie, Grace, and Andrew.
Sister of the late Edward Burns and the late James “Sonny” Burns.
Also survived and loved by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral from the George Doherty and Sons Funeral Home 1305 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM, Tuesday, June 15th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Bartholomew Church Needham at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting Hours on Monday, June 14th, from 4-8PM. Interment St Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
