Obituary

VENICE, FL-Raymond E. Dodge, 93, of 409 Manatee Court, formerly of Mattapoisett and Auburn died Tuesday, January 22nd in his home. He leaves his wife Josephine (Keating) Dodge; 3 sons, Ogden M. Dodge of Barrington, RI, Conway T. Dodge of Thompson, CT and Raymond E. Dodge, Jr. of Holden, 3 daughters, Nancy L. Fistori of Fairhaven, Pricilla G. Hesford of Charlottesville, VA and Susan M. Dentch of Northboro, twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. His first wife Gladys M. (Conway) Dodge died in 1972.

He was born in New York City the son of Rufus and Julia (Tehan) Dodge and lived most of his life in Auburn. Mr. Dodge had been general manager for Filene’s Department Store in Worcester for 39 years he retired in 1966. He was a member of the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice and a former member and daily communicant at St. Joseph’s Church in Auburn. Mr. Dodge was a member of The Cursillo Movement and an Oblate of St. Benedict having made his profession in 1951 at St. Anselm’s Abbey in Manchester, NH. He was an active member of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce and the Worcester Mercantile Bureau.

The funeral will be Saturday, January 26th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Friday, January 25th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of St. Joseph, 637 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA 02135.
