New Bedford - Maria C. (Oliveira) Raposo, age 93 years, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Jose C. Raposo. Mrs. Raposo was the mother of Jose A. and his wife Ana and Gustavo O. and his wife Lucilia Raposo both of this area. Mrs. Raposo was the grandmother of Isabel, Sonia, Sara, Paul and Alex, husband of Kara. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Raposo was the daughter of the late Isabel (Araujo) and Antonio Rego Oliveira. She was born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores and lived in this area since 1974. Maria was employed as an assembler at Columbia Electronics.
Mrs. Raposo’s funeral will be from Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Monday at 8 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
