Donald "Donnie" Dootson age 60 of Assonet, MA. passed away Thursday at home after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family & friends. Don was the husband and best friend for over 40 years of Susan (Machado) Dootson. Born in Fall River, MA. He lived in Assonet, for over 17 years. He was a graduate of Diman Vocational High School class of 67. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for the Fall River School Dept. for over 37 years before retiring in 2009. He loved spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, watching horror movies, working out and spending time with his wife and their new puppy named “Bubba Doots”. He was also an avid New York Jets fan. In addition to his wife he is survived by his parents Wes and Janet Dootson of Fall River. A son Neil Dootson of Taunton, MA. A daughter Stephanie (Dootson) Costa, her husband Paul from Fall River and three grandchildren; Hayleigh Dootson, Serina Costa and Kaleb Dootson. A sister Gail (Dootson-Zabatta) Stroker and her husband Jeff and a nephew Gabriel Zabatta from Warwick, RI. He also leaves several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
His funeral service will take place in the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. MONDAY at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours SUNDAY 4-8 P.M.
