Geraldine Lehr, 88

Geraldine (Hage) Lehr, 88, of New Pond Village, Walpole formerly of Norton and Leonia, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Lehr to whom she was wed for 51 years at the time of his death on July 11, 2000.
Born in Ida, Michigan on January 9, 1922, she was a loving daughter of the late Harry and Isabelle (Smith) Hage.
Gerry grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was educated in Grand Rapids schools and was a graduate of Kelloggsville High School also in Grand Rapids. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and later her Bachelors Degree of Nursing from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
A dedicated homemaker and retired registered nurse, Mrs. Lehr made her home in Walpole for the past 4 years. She had formerly resided in Norton for 6 years and previously lived for many years in Leonia, New Jersey.
An avid golfer, Gerry will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills. Her favorite times spent were those in the presence of her cherished family.
She is survived by her children Patricia J. Hill and her husband Paul of Mansfield, John F. “Jack” Lehr and his wife Maureen of North Caldwell, New Jersey and the late Thomas Lehr. She was the dear sister of Jean Barrett of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Harry Hage of San Diego, California and the late Harriet Abbring and Howard Hage. Mrs. Lehr is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Robin and Caroline Hill of Mansfield and Hannah, Sean and Jack Lehr of North Caldwell, New Jersey and also several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday June 14th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Private burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass on Monday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Geraldine’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School 330 Pratt St. Mansfield, MA 02048, Attn: Principal Joanne Riley.
