Frederick P. Blanchard of Franklin died June 8 surrounded by his loving family; he was the husband of Dorothy (Rossetti) Blanchard, with whom he celebrated his 61st anniversary on May 22.
Born in Walpole, the son of the late George H. and Annie R. (Durant) Blanchard, Mr. Blanchard was raised in Walpole and had lived in Franklin since 1951.
Mr. Blanchard was a 1941 graduate of Walpole High School and he had attended the Burdett School of Business prior to going to Northeastern University where he graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor in Business Administration.
Mr. Blanchard had worked for the Fenwal Corporation in Ashland for 29 years until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Blanchard had helped in the development of the Black Hawk helicopter and the Stealth Bomber.
Mr. Blanchard served in the Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Carpenter’s Mate Second Class.
He was a former member of the Ashland Knights of Columbus, Bishop Rice Council and had been a volunteer for the Franklin Meals on Wheels program from 1989-1997.
Mr. Blanchard enjoyed bowling but being with his family was he most cherished pastime.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeanne Blanchard of Franklin, David Blanchard and his wife Dianne of Franklin and Denise Blanchard of Franklin.
He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred Mellman of Attleboro and Margaret King of North Easton.
He was the brother of the late Charles and George Blanchard, Rose Curran, Mamie Johnston and Lillian Arenburg.
He is also the brother-in-law of Josephine Greenwood of Franklin and Claire Fournier of Mansfield.
Mr. Blanchard is also survived by his grandchildren, Susan of Houston, Texas, Sharon Greeson of Dartmouth, Daniel Frederick and Kerri of Franklin and his great-grandchildren, Jillian and Matthew Frederick Greeson of Dartmouth.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 12 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
