Antone “Tony” Silvia, age 81, of Fall River, passed away June 8, 2010. He was the husband of Juliette (Domingos) Silvia and son of the late John Medeiros Silvia & Mary (Chaves) Silvia. Prior to retiring in 1990, Tony worked for Duro Finishing for 15 years & previously Firestone for 21 years, later he worked at the Stop & Shop in Fall River. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was a parishioner of the former St. Elizabeth’s Church where he received the Marion Medal & was a Eucharistic Minister; he was a current parishioner Holy Trinity Church and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Tony was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by 2 children: Paul A. Silvia of Somerset and Joyce L. Belue and her husband Rickey of Fall River, 2 grandchildren: Tammy (Belue) Feighery and Adam Belue, 1 great grandchild: Autumn Feighery & many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John, Joseph, Manuel, Edward, William Silvia, Mary (Silvia) Perry & Lena (Silvia) Perry.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. SATURDAY at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8 P.M.
