WORCESTER-Samuel J. George, 83, of Worcester died Monday, June 7th in UMass Memorial Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Lucille P. (McCarty) George; two sons, William D. George and his wife, Deborah of Sutton and Robert J. George and his wife, Mary of Spencer; a step daughter, Beverly F. Beauregard and her husband, Roland of Spencer; five grandchildren, Christine, Rebecca, Robert Jr., Nicholas and Timothy; and a niece and two nephews. A sister, Elizabeth A. Mercier predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester son of Harry W. and Elizabeth C. (Dixon) George. Samuel was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce. He was a fire fighter for over 30 years with the Worcester Fire Department. Samuel later worked for the Cleveland Indians and Disneyworld. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Samuel was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the American Legion Post #341. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
The funeral is Friday, June 11th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, June 10th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
