
GROTON- William H. Post Sr., 77, of Groton, passed away Monday at his home.
He was born in New London on September 23, 1932 the son of Harold and Florence (Fox) Post. Raised in Groton, he attended local schools and at the age of 17, enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a rigger at Electric Boat. In his spare time he enjoyed puzzles, spending time with his family, and cooking. Most of all, he will be remembered as an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian (Miner) Post whom he married on July 18, 1953. He is also survived by his children, William (Laurie) Post Jr. of Westerly, Michael (Terry) Post of WI, Kathleen (Joseph) Gilbert of Plainfield, Lori Jean Post of Pawcatuck, Christopher (Lori Beckwith Post) Post of Stonington, and Eric David (Diane) Post of Canterbury, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Harold, Larry, Norman, Frank, Joanie, Lorraine, Milton, Gary, Everett, and Kenny. He was predeceased by his siblings, Florence, Donny, and Shirley.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Community Baptist Church, Groton on Thursday at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure (www.komen.org).
