Mrs. Mildred C. Green, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, June 7, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Fitzgerald from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Green was born October 31, 1924 in Telfair County to the late G.A. and Emma Cannington Cauley. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1942. Mrs. Green worked as a secretary in the courthouse for her father, Sheriff G.A. Cauley as well as the Tax Collectors Office and the Ordinary’s office. In the 1970’s she received her LPN training at Ben Hill Irwin Tech and worked as an LPN at Dorminy Memorial Hospital. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was a member and former teacher of the Genesis Sunday School Class. Mrs. Green also worked in the church nursery and she served as a volunteer for the Blue-Gray Community Hospice.
Mrs. Green is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gilbert Green of Fitzgerald; son: Ronald Gilbert Green of Atlanta; daughter: Marilyn Green (Chuck) Currence of Athens, TN; grandchildren: Cameron Chase Langhoff and Cord Alan Green, both of Atlanta, Emily Claire Currence of Knoxville, TN and Megan Eugenia Currence of Cumberland Gap, TN; brother: Gordon A. (Nita) Cauley, Jr. of Tangerine, FL.
