Richard J. Reilly, 79, of Dartmouth died Sunday June 6, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late June D. (O'Dell) Reilly.
Born in Hyde Park, the son of the late Joseph J. and Elizabeth J. (Henderson) Reilly, he was raised in Winthrop and lived in Danvers before moving to Dartmouth in 1969.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth.
Mr. Reilly was formerly employed as the manager of the former Star Store in New Bedford from 1969-1985. He was later employed as a part-time maintenance worker at the Holy Cross Fathers on Tucker Road.
He was an avid sports fan, who loved the Boston Red Sox and Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
Survivors include six children, Joseph R. Reilly and his wife Diane, and Karen J. Kennedy and her husband John, all of New Bedford, Coleen E. Reilly and James F. Reilly and his wife Jessica, all of Dartmouth, Linda D. Reilly and her companion Gary Silvia of Fall River, and Patti M. O'Brien and her companion Debra Whitehead of Fairhaven; a sister, Jacqueline Rush of Winthrop; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Elaine Richardson.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery will be private.
