WESTPORT - Theophilo W. “Ted” Duponte, Jr., 76, of Westport died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at home with his family by his side after a long illness. He was the husband of Jo-Ann J. (Arruda) Duponte. Born in Tiverton, he was a son of the late Theophilo W. Duponte, Sr. and the late Maria (Medeiros) Duponte.
A resident of Westport for most of his life he was the former owner of Ted’s Farm Equipment of Fairhaven and T & J Lawn & Garden Repair of Westport. He had also been a self-employed dairy farmer in Westport for many years. Mr. Duponte enjoyed working on tractors and woodworking. He was a member of the New England Tractor Pullers. Ted enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his pet dog Gabby. The Duponte family wishes to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at hospice and the Lambert family for all their support and comfort at this time.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by 2 sons: Ronald Duponte of Dartmouth and Russell Duponte of Fairhaven; a daughter: Mellissa Hanson of New Hampshire; a step-son: James Anctil of Oklahoma; 2 step-daughters: Jennifer Anctil of Taunton and Jean Ann Anctil of Illinois; 3 brothers: George Duponte of Tiverton, Jesse Duponte of Somerset and John Duponte of Tiverton; a sister: Albertina Rego of Dartmouth; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Antonio, Alfred and Manuel Duponte, Mary Barboza and Alice Kelley.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
Calling hours Tuesday 5-8 P.M.
Interment service will be private.
