Ipswich, MA - Sister Mary Frances Shea, formerly Sister Francis St. Michael 77, and a 25 year school teacher at Saint Monicas School in Methuen died Saturday June 5, 2010 at the Saint Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich.
Born in Boston Sister was the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Kearney) Shea.
Sisters date of entrance into the Sisters of Notre Dame order was August 1, 1950, and she made her first vows in 1953, then on July 30, 1958 made her Perpetual Vows.
Her assignments consisted of Waltham, Lowell, Exeter, NH, Shrewsbury, and Methuen, as an elementary school teacher.
Sister is survived by her sister Kathleen and her husband John Fitton of Walleston, and her sister-in-law Irene Shea as well as many nieces nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother Michael Shea.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Saint Monicas Church in Methuen and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint Monicas Church.
Burial will take place in Sisters of Notre Dame Cemetery in Ipswich.
On Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM a Prayer Service will take place in Church conducted by the Sisters of Notre Dame.
