Barbara A. (Saunders) MacKenzie of Andover, formerly of North Reading and beloved wife of the late William K. MacKenzie, died at the Marlboro Hills Nursing Center in Marlboro on Friday morning, June 4, 2010. She was 83 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 24, 1926, she was the loving daughter of the late Albert W. and Alice G. (Irvin) Saunders. Mrs. MacKenzie was employed for many years at the U.S. Post Office in North Reading and for American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield. In her spare time, Barbara loved to play her organ and loved doing arts & crafts. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be sorely missed by her loving children, Lt. William MacKenzie, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Andover, Paul MacKenzie of Cape Cod and Barbara Natali and her husband Joseph A. of Marlboro, brother, Robert D. Saunders of Randolph, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Thomas MacKenzie and sister of the late Albert W. Saunders and Frank W. Saunders.
Visitation was held in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Monday, June 7, 2010, from 9 to 10 AM. Relatives and friends were in attendance. Her funeral mass was celebrated, in the church, following visitation at 10:30 AM. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery in Andover.
