Edna C. (Smith) Lincoln, age 89, passed away at Longmeadow Nursing Home of Taunton on June 4, 2010 following a period of declining health. Edna was the wife of the late Warren E. Lincoln, Jr. She was born in Taunton to her late parents James J. & Alice G. (Brown) Smith. Edna attended Taunton schools and graduated from Taunton High School in 1938. She attended Bridgewater State College and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1942. She began her career as a teacher in a combined seventh and eighth grade classroom at Berkley Elementary School. After several years in the Berkley School System, Edna moved to the Taunton School System. She taught fifth grade at the Leonard, Caswell and Walker Elementary Schools. She retired from the Taunton School System in 1984 after 42 years as a classroom teacher. Edna was a member of the Taunton Education Association, Massachsetts Teachers Association and the Bristol County Retired Teachers Association. Edna loved day trips to Foxwoods and also enjoyed weekly luncheons with her friends, knitting, reading the Taunton Daily Gazette, watching weekly PBS broadcasts of the Lawrence Welk Show and viewing daily news shows. She also enjoyed following the sports teams on which her grandchildren played. Edna is survived by her children, Barbara Masterson and her husband, Larry, of Taunton; Warren E. Linclon, III, of Boston and Pat Callahan and her husband, Michael, of Lakeville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Meaghan and Thomas Callahan, of Lakeville. She was preceded in death by her beloved twin brother, Edward J. Smith. Funeral services will be held from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Tuesday, June 8th at 8 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Annunciation of the Lord Church at 9 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Monday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
