Ellen J. Solimini, 72, passed away at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford on May 29th, 2010. She was born on November 11th, 1937 to her parents Lewis and Margaret (Golden) Thomas. Ellen was raised and educated in Dorchester. She has been a resident of Malden for the past 6 years and was previously a long time resident of Medford. Ellen worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at the Dexter House Nursing Home in Malden for 22 years, retiring in 2005. She was an avid sports fan and watched the local teams such as the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics with great enthusiasm. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Cheryl Knosp of Malden, Carmine A. Solimini Jr. of Lynn, Stephen F. Solimini and his wife Karen of Peabody and Michael C. Solimini and his wife Lori of Malden; by her grandchildren; Jessica, Erik, Ryann, Carmine, Daniel, Juliann, Stephen F. Jr., Samantha, Courtney, Michael Jr., Zachary and Jordyn; and by her sister; Margaret N. Powers of Malden. Ellen is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; Carmine A. Solimini and by her daughter-in-law Theresa Solimini. At Ellen’s request, funeral services were privately held.
