Mr. Jesse “Bookie” Richardson, 69, of Rockingham, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 in Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, in Glenwood Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend David Lee officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Richmond County Memorial Park.
A lifelong resident of Richmond County, Bookie was born on October 9, 1940 a son of the late Homer and Roney Cagle Richardson. He was a member of Glenwood Freewill Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Industries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by foster parents, Paul and Elaine Arnette, and two brothers, Ed and Dobb Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Richardson; two sons, Jesse David Richardson and Ronald Gene Richardson and wife Carol of Rockingham; five brothers, Buck Richardson of Rockingham, Hurley Richardson of Rockingham, Larry Richardson of Hamlet, Harry Richardson of Rockingham, Lee Richardson of Columbia, SC; four sisters, Dorothy Brown, Bessie Smith, Barbara Smith all of Rockingham, April Hutcheson of Amarillo, TX; seven grandchildren, Daniel and Rebecca Richardson, Eric Dornon, Kit Savannah, Summer Easton, Jeffrey and Donnie Pifer, seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and special pet, Smoke.
Memorial may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US HWY 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russell-Marks Funeral Home.
