Serafino Caraco, of Clearwater FL, died Monday at his daughter’s Kingston home. He was 89.
Born and raised in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and the late Emanuela (Cianci) Caraco. As a young man Serafino settled in Libia, Africa with his family and was later forced out during World War II. They resettled in Canicattini Bagni and Serafino served as a civil official at city hall. In 1955 he moved to the United States and settled in East Boston. He soon opened a barber shop, “Fino and Friends” on Bromfield St., Boston. Serafino was an active member of the St. Michael Society Figli di Canicattini Bagni.
Mr. Caraco lived many years in Billerica and settled in Florida after his retirement.
He was the husband of the late Giuseppina (Alfano) Caraco. He is survived by his children: Giuseppe Caraco, of Billerica, Riccardo Caraco of Billerica, Maria Rosa Callum of Kingston, and Emanuela Rego of Billerica. He leaves grandchildren: Fino Caraco, Dina Gajarski, Joey Caraco, Armando Prato, Milena Anzalone, Sonya Prato, Sheila Toppi, Stephen Caraco, Robert Callum, David Callum, Eddie Rego, Ericka Rego, Elayna Rego and Eric Rego.
Relatives and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home,306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday November 5 from 4 – 8PM.
Service and entombment will be in Clearwater, Florida.
