Manchester– Doris C. Richards, 73, died May 29, 2010 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Manchester on October 21, 1936 the daughter of Lionel and Jeanette (Gelinas) Hamel. She had been a lifelong resident of Manchester. She was educated in the Manchester school district. One of her early jobs was as a bookkeeper for local businesses.
She had been employed by New England Telephone in Manchester as a Customer Service Assistant. She later retired from Verizon in Andover MA.. She had also worked part time for Cumberland Farms for the past six years.
She enjoyed spending summers at her chalet in Gilmanton, NH.
Family members include five sons, Michael K. Richards, Steve A. Richards, Daniel E. Richards, Tom E. Richards, Joseph E. Richards, all of Manchester; two daughters, Christine A. Richards of Manchester, Mrs. Craig (Cynthia) P. Williams of Mount Vernon WA., seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, John Crotty of CA., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services: A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Catherine of Sienna
Church, Webster and Hemlock Sts. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery, S. Beech St.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN. 38105-1942.
