Edward R. O’Neil, 65, of Methuen, passed away on Monday, May 31st at his home in Methuen. He was born, raised and educated in Lawrence and served with the US Navy during Vietnam. Edward worked for 30 years with Lucent and most recently for S.B.M. until his retirement, April 1st, 2010. His greatest love was his family and grandchildren. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing 45s, eating, joking and spending time at Weirs Beach.
Edward leaves his mother, Bertha (Bedard) O’Neil, his loving wife of 19 years, Jacqueline O’Neil of Methuen, his children, Tracy O’Neil of Lawrence, Tina Webster (Long) of Methuen and Jeremy Webster and his wife Melanie of Methuen, sisters, Judy O’Neil of Lawrence, Patricia O’Neil of Derry, NH, Linda Daley of Chelmsford and Sharon O’Neil of Lawrence, 11 grandchildren, special friends Kenneth Serverius and his wife Karen, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward is predeceased by his father, Edward J. O’Neil, a brother Richard O’Neil and a granddaughter, Crystal Martiocchio.
Friends are invited to call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, June 7th at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A graveside service will be held at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence at 11:30 a.m. Donations may be made to the Family of Edward O’Neil, c/o Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
