Obituary

WEBSTER – Richard J. Cameron, Sr., 63, of Golden Heights, died June 2, 2010 at home after being stricken ill.

He leaves 2 sons, Richard J. Cameron, Jr. and Nicholas R. Cameron; a daughter, Kristen F. Cameron, all of Webster; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother G. David Cameron, Jr.

He was born in Worcester and raised in Oxford, a son of George D. Cameron, Sr. and Alice M. (McDonald) Cameron. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1964, where he was an outstanding cross country runner for the varsity track team. He later earned his Associate Degree from Miami-Dade Junior College. He lived in Webster for many years.

He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He traveled all over the world. One of his fondest memories was watching the running of the bulls in Barcelona.

Mr. Cameron first worked for several banks as a real estate appraiser. He founded his own company, Richard J. Cameron Real Estate Appraiser, in 1984. He retired in 2006.

He was a major league sports enthusiast. His hobby was his children: he faithfully attended their sporting events since they were youngsters. He was their biggest fan.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 10, at 11:00 AM in North Cemetery, Route 12, Oxford. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors.
