In Taunton, June 1, 2010, Age 83 Alma D. (Simmons) Barney-Taylor died at Morton Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. Alma was the wife of Herbert Taylor and the late Elliott Barney. Born and educated in Dighton, Alma was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Ault) Simmons. Alma was a retired L.P.N. for many local nursing homes. She loved going to the beach, crosswords puzzles and spending time at her home and with her family. Alma was the mother of Linda Carter and her husband Scott of North Dighton, David Barney and his wife Margaret of East Taunton and Carlton Barney and his wife Brenda of Taunton. Step mother of Robert Taylor and his wife Susan of Lakeville, Marcia Taylor –Runkel and her husband Charles of CA. Sister of Carolyn Booth of North Dighton, Carlton Simmons of Lakeville, Gordon Simmons of Taunton, George Simmons of Dighton and the late Marjorie Reed and Mary Elizabeth Talbot. Grandmother of Fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Dighton Unitarian Cemetery, Main Street in Dighton on Friday, June 4th at 11 AM.
