Obituary

McMAHON, Leonard George “Lenney” of West Roxbury passed away on May 30, 2010, at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with illness. Lenney was born on July 4, 1934, in Hyde Park to Thomas McMahon and Helen (Martel) McMahon (both deceased). Beloved husband of Lillian E. (Caldeira) McMahon, devoted father of David Leonard Caldeira McMahon, proud grandfather of Thomas William McMahon and Benjamin Samuel McMahon, and brother of Gerard McMahon. “Primo” to Carmen Gonzales, “tio” to Yvonne Gonzalez Chase, Marisol Chase and Antonio Chase, and godfather to Carlos A. Perez, Javier E. Perez and Evan Ronald Haney.

Lenney attended Stonehill College, Boston University and The New England Conservatory of Music. A musician throughout his life, he studied composition and performance and taught music and piano to students for decades, first from the New England Conservatory and later from his private studio in Mattapan his and his home. He was, variously, a photographer, a composer, a builder of musical instruments, an artist, a designer of wooden boats and Bonsai, a woodcarver, a birder, and, above all, a sailor. His happiest moments were spent with family and friends near or on the ocean near Cape Cod, Boston and Fairhaven. His greatest love was his family.
