Grace Elizabeth (McGuire) Murphy, 96 of Franklin died May 31 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Murphy who died in 1990.
Born in Franklin, February 18, 1914, the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Coughlin) McGuire, Mrs. Murphy was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Mrs. Murphy had worked as an assembler for the former Life Instruments/Frost Controls, Inc.
She had attended Dean Academy and had been a former member of FISH, AARP and a communicant of Mary’s Church.
Mrs. Murphy enjoyed sewing and knitting, reading and singing.
Mrs. Murphy was a powerful example of faith, strength and dignity to her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Janet McLaughlin of Franklin, William J. Murphy and his wife Marie of Novi, MI, Paula Lombardi and her husband John of Franklin and David Murphy and his wife Debra of Cumberland RI, She was the sister of the late Walter, Thomas Francis, Edwin McGuire and Mae Eldridge.
She is also survived by her sister-in-in laws, Rita Murphy of Chelsea and Dorothea McGuire of Franklin and her grandchildren, Kim Baum and her husband John of Abington, PA, Karen Timons and her husband Bill of Franklin, Christopher Lombardi and his wife Charlene of Wrentham, Jennifer Lombardi of Worcester, John Lombardi and his wife Kristin of Cohasset, Jill and Kathryn Murphy of Cumberland RI and 10 great-grandchildren.
Grammy Grace also leaves several nieces and nephews and beloved friends and caring staff at the Maples Nursing Home.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 4 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
