Obituary

Holland - Hugh D. Rankin, 83 formerly of Canterbury St. Worcester died on Nov. 1.

His wife Dorothy M. (White) Rankin died in 1996. He is also predeceased by a daughter Nancy K. Delman who died in 1994. Mr. Rankin leaves his daughter Cheryl A. Rankin of Holland with whom he lived; two sisters Shirley Wood and Hazel Wojtanek both of Worcester; 28 grandchildren including Deana Laudone, Rebecca and Renee Sumner, Kayla and Sarah Rankin, Pamela, Holly and David Bombard; 46 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He also leaves 5 step children. Mr. Rankin was born in Worcester son of William and Mary (Hammond) Rankin and served in the United States Army during WWII.

He worked for the Providence & Worcester Railroad Co. and volunteered for 15 years at the Seven Hills Foundation on Hope Ave.

Mr. Rankin was a member of the Main South American Legion Post #341 and the Wesley United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday Nov. 5 in Wesley United Methodist Church 114 Main St. Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester on Tuesday Nov. 4 from 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Seven Hills Foundation 81 Hope Ave. Worcester, MA 01603.
