Maurice Carroll McMillan, 82, of Enigma died Monday, May 31, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. John Harrington and Rev. Pete Jones will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, John Bowen, Michael Bowen, Tyler McMillan, Tanner McMillan, Gage McMillan and friend, Corey Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Crumley, Leroy Little, Larry Railey, Bernard Burnette, Billy Hill, Darwin Walker, O. D. Owens, Joey Hall, Jay York, Lee Little, Roddy Little, Zack Railey and Jerry Turner. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. McMillan was born on August 5, 1927 in Berrien County and was the son of Arthur Cleveland McMillan and Gertrude Shippey McMillan, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Carter McMillan. He was a retired educator with the Berrien County Board of Education and a retired Director of the Bank of Alapaha. He was a member of Enigma United Methodist Church and a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He had lived in Berrien County all of his life.
Mr. McMillan is survived by his wife, Edna Fountain McMillan of Enigma; one son, Maurice Keith McMillan of Nashville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra and William D. Bowen of Tifton, Carole and Gregg A. Frank of Johns Creek and Phyllis McMillan of Tampa, Florida, one daughter-in-law, Monica McMillan of Cordele; one sister, Ann McMillan Cooper of Blakely; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
