Roy Edward Conger, 76, of West Berrien Community died Friday, May 28, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2010, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County. Rev. Jim Williams, Rev. Leonard Conger and Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Randy Harris, Lee Conger, Albie Shively, Jason Rich, Joe Grant and Terry Wells will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Olen Harris, Larry Apperson, Buddy Lingefelt and Charles Lott. The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Conger was born on August 9, 1933 in Berrien County and was the son of Hazel Clark Conger and Stella Mae Hall Conger, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Wilburn Conger; and one sister, Aline Nichols. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Tifton Aluminum Company. He was a member and deacon of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had lived in West Berrien Community for 50 years.
Mr. Conger is survived by his wife, Robbie Joy Grant Conger of West Berrien Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Edward and Julie Conger of Berrien County; two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa Conger of Tifton and Robin and Larry Harris of West Berrien Community; two brothers, Curtis Conger of Berrien County and Leonard Conger of Tifton; two sisters, Lela Jane Wells of Tifton and Inez Conger of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Becky Nolan Harris, Amanda and Albie Shively, Sandra Harris-Allen, Roy Leonard “Lee” and Jessica Woods Conger and Brandi and Sgt. Jason Rich; and seven great grandchildren.
