James F. Moylan, 88 of East Walpole died May 26 in Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in East Walpole, October 6, 1921, the son of the late John and Hannah (McHugh) Moylan, he had been a lifelong East Walpole resident.
Mr. Moylan was a 1939 graduate of Walpole High School and a 1952 graduate of Northeastern University.
Mr. Moylan had been a mechanical engineer for the Bird and Son Company for 42 years until his retirement.
Mr. Moylan had long been active in the Walpole Little League program.
He first managed the Tiger major league team and for 15 years and then was an umpire for 15 years in Walpole.
Mr. Moylan was the second person inducted into the Walpole Little Hall of Fame in 1994.
Mr. Moylan served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He served from 1942 until 1945 primarily in the South Pacific and attained the rank of Seaman Second Class.
Jim is survived by his sister, Alice T. Campisano of East Walpole and a brother, Joseph L. Moylan of Sarasota, Florida.
He was the brother of the late Mary E. Moylan and John E. Moylan.
Mr. Moylan is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 29 from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole at 8:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
