Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Susan J. (Munroe) Begeal, 63, of Shepherd Street, died Tuesday evening, May 25, 2010 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following an extended illness. She was the wife of William G. Begeal.
Born in Gloucester on November 17, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Adelaide E. (Digou) Munroe.
Susan was a very active member of the Gloucester Emblem Club No. 339, of which she was club president for seven years and an honorary life member, and the Gloucester Elks #892 for many years until her illness made it impossible to participate.
She was also a member of the planning committee that brought the Vietnam Moving Wall Memorial to Gloucester in 1997.
Susan was also best known for being the newspaper carrier to much of Rockport and parts of Gloucester for nearly twenty years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her loving and devoted husband of thirty-four years, she is survived by her three children, Robert Begeal, fiancé of Cheryl Gaffney, Christopher Begeal, husband of Annette Begeal, and Lori, wife of Arthur Westover. She was also the loving grandmother of ten grandchildren; Phillip Begeal, whom she raised with much pride, Brian Begeal, Erica Westover, Holly Westover, Nathan Begeal, Raven Begeal, Mikayla Begeal, Jesse James Begeal, Melissa Gaffney and Miranda Gaffney. Susan was the great-grandmother of Christopher Michael Begeal and soon to be born, Alesana Elizabeth Munroe (due June 5th). She also leaves her two sisters, Kim, wife of Butch Weinrich and Allyson, wife of David Johnson, two brothers, Wayne, husband of Marsha Munroe and Kevin Munroe, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The Gloucester Emblem Club No. 339 will conduct a memorial service on Saturday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Susan Begeal Scholarship Fund, c/o Marcia Budrow, 37 King Street, Rockport, MA 01966. Interment will be held privately.
