DARTMOUTH...Robert A. Best, 79, of Dartmouth died Friday, October 31, 2003 athome with his family by his side after a long illness. He was the husband of Betty M.(Russell) Best to whom he had been married to for 52 years.
Born in Fall River son ofthe late Harry and May (Day) Best he had been a resident of Dartmouth for most of hislife. He was formerly employed by the Town of Dartmouth as head custodian and amaintenance man for 32 years until his retirement in 1984.
He was a WWII veteran inthe U.S. Airforce as a fighter pilot. He was a graduate of the University ofMassachusetts-Amherst. Mr. Best built his own home and loved to maintain theproperty. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors in addition to his wife include 1daughter: Nancy L. Best of Dartmouth; 1 sister: Doris Ashley of East Brookfield, MA,several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Graveside Service at South Dartmouth Cemetery will beannounced at a later date.
