Gilbert R. Mello, age 70, of Swansea, passed away May 24, 2010. He was the husband of Alda (Cordeiro) Mello. Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores, and the son of the late Mariano Vieira Mello & Maria dos Anjos (Teves) Jacome. Prior to retiring, Gilbert worked for the C.J. Pearson Yacht Co. as a Carpenter and previously worked in the Construction Industry. He was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church.
Besides his wife of Swansea, he leaves a daughter, Rosa Cabral & her husband Tony of Fall River, a granddaughter, Maegan Cabral, a brother, Manuel Mariano Melo of Riverside, RI, several nieces, nephews, & godchildren. He was the brother of the late Adelaide Melo & Isaura Medeiros.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. FRIDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours THURSDAY 5-9 P.M.
