Roland C. Spofford

...retired from Kendall Corp.; 85

TEWKSBURY - Roland C. Spofford, age 85, a longtime resident of Marblehead, died Friday,Oct. 31, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, after a long period of declining health. He was thehusband of Helen M. (Gamble) Spofford, who died in 1985.

He was born in Newburyport, Mass., Aug. 26, 1918, a son of the late Ralph and Ethel (Dade)Spofford. He was raised in Marblehead, where he resided the greater part of his life. He movedto Walpole, before coming to Tewksbury in 1996. He Graduated Marblehead High Schoolin 1936, and attended the New Hampton School in N.H.

During WWII, he served in the Army, European Theater.

He retired from The Kendall Corp. in Boston and Walpole, where he had worked as a purchasingagent. In his earlier years, he worked for the Oxford Paper Co. in Lawrence.

He is survive by two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and her husband Kenneth Millard ofWinsted, CT, and Susan and her husband Gary Hodges of Tewksbury; one sister, Eleanor Greerof Marlborough, NH; 6 granddaughters; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was also brother of the late Warren Spofford.

At his request, all funeral arrangements were private.
