Obituary

Mrs. Ruth Alma Martin, age 89, of Danbury widow of the late John Wesley Martin passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Martin was born in Stuart, VA on February 8, 1921 to the late George Dillard and Mary Stevens Mitchell. Ruth worked as housewife, farmer and in the Textile Industry and was of the Missionary Baptist faith and attended Belews Creek Church.
Mrs. Martin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Carolyn Martin of Dobson and one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Randy Cross of Summerfield; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four brothers, Ray, Alvin, Curtis and Clarence Mitchell; five sisters, Nannie Lou M. Anderson, Betty M. Overby, Shirley M. Walker, Bobby Jo M. Mabe and Pattie M. Taylor. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son; one brother, Hugh Mitchell; one sister, Rachel M. Ward and one grandchild. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in the Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Roger Sickmiller officiating with interment to follow in the Stateline Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 7-9 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
