Obituary

Walter M. "Soupy" Campbell, 84, of New Bedford died May 22, 2010 at Royal of Fairhaven. He was the husband of the late Benvinda "Chu-Cha" (Sylvia) Campbell.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edward L. and Edna M. (Gwynn) Campbell, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Campbell was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Milton Campbell of Dartmouth and Bruce Campbell of Sanford, NC; a daughter, Yvonne Santos of New Bedford; a sister, Dorothy Montague of New Bedford; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Edward, Sheldon, Wayne and Robert Campbell and Gloria Houtman.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 29th at 9:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 28th from 4 - 8 PM.
