Mrs. Edna Frances Coleman Gordon, age 85, wife of Glenn M. Gordon of Pinnacle, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Stokes-Reynolds Medical Center. She was born in Surry county on December 15, 1924 to the late Bert Coleman and Nevada Cox.Mrs. Gordon was a homemaker and visited the Shut-Ins as part of her church ministry for over 30 years. She started the Senior Citizens Organization in her home and was a member of Pinnacle United Methodist Church.Mrs. Gordon is survived by her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Dean Russell and Rebecca “Becky” Gordon, of Pinnacle; one granddaughter, Georgia Gordon; one grandson, Bert Gordon, one great-grandson, Shaffer Ester; one great-grand-daughter, Miana Steinmeyer; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Benny “Ben” E. and Winifred Coleman of Winston-Salem, Donnie Gray and Audrey Coleman of Pinnacle and Rex Thomas Coleman of Pilot Mountain.
Mrs. Gordon is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lunda C. Denny and Verta Coleman; and one brother, James Coleman.Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Pinnacle United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. George Burton and special friend Carol Tilley with interment to follow at the church cemetery.The family will receive friends on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skilled Care Nursing Facility at Stokes-Reynolds in Danbury, NC.
