Hill—Dorothy Akerman Stockley, 84, of Borough Road in Hill, passed away May 21, 2010 at Mountain Ridge Health Care Center, Franklin.
Dorothy grew up in Alexandria, N.H. After graduating from Bristol High School, Dottie went to Washington, D.C. to work in the Pentagon until the end of WWII. She then returned to NH to marry her high school sweetheart, Roland Libby. They made their home in Hill and together they raised two daughters. Roland passed away in 1970.
Dorothy worked at Bristol Savings Bank until her retirement in 1988. In 1976, she married Raymond Stockley. They both enjoyed traveling in their motor home to see new places and visit old friends.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Raymond “Skip” Stockley, of Hill; her daughter, Carolyn “Kandi” Poisson and her husband, David, of Franklin and their children, Gina and Timothy; her daughter, Jane Morrison, and her husband, Blythe, of Dover and their children, Jeremy and Samuel; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Ackerman and Russell Giguere and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Lyle Akerman, Red Akerman, Edgar Giguere and by a sister, Patsy (Giguere) Noyes.
At the request of Dorothy and her husband, Raymond, there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of services, a private family celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held.
