Betty K. Petrus, age 82, of Wilmington formerly of Monticello, NY passed away peacefully, May 21st, at the Winchester Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife for 49 years of the late Dr. Joseph P. Petrus who passed away in 1999. Born in New York City, NY she was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret D. (Murphy) Kuhn.
Mrs. Petrus was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mostly devoted to her loving family she enjoyed and cherished spending time with her grandchildren who will greatly miss her. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo and taking the occasional trip to Foxwoods Casino. She was also an avid reader and espacially enjoyed reading science fiction novels.
In addition to her late husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, the late William, Jeff and George Kuhn. She is survived by her devoted children, Patricia McCarthy and her husband Joseph of Lynnfield, Richard Petrus and his wife Jill of Chester, NY, Robert Petrus of Aspen, CO, Jeanne Keller and her husband David of Wilmington. She was the loving grandmother of Brian and Kevin Petrus, Kristen and Laura Keller. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Kuhn of New York, sisters, Margaret Dooley of Pennsylvania and Helen of New Mexico.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Wednesday, May 26th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the St. Mary Parish Tree of Life Food Pantry, 8 South Common St., Lynn, MA 01902.
