Lavada Richey, 72, of Ben Hill County died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, May 23 at Abba Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Faircloth, Rev. Brent Duncan and Rev. Howard Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Richey was born July 16, 1937 in Ben Hill County to the late Fred and Jewell Reynolds Walker. She lived in Florida, Louisiana and South Carolina serving as a minister’s wife before returning to Georgia in 1995. Mrs. Richey worked for church daycare centers in South Carolina. She was a member of Abba Baptist Church. Her most notable accomplishments was that of being a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Richey is survived by her husband: Rev. Bobby W. Richey, Ben Hill County; son and daughter-in-law: David & Lorri Richey, Midland, NC; daughter and son-in-law: Deborah Lynn & Jim Christian, Sycamore; grandchildren: Jonathan Richey, Jennifer Purcell, Staci Richey, Stephanie Paulk and Bobbie Benson; great grandchildren: Carmen Brewer, Alexis Cline, Jacob Purcell, Garrett Purcell, Todd Benson, Precious Benson, Audrey Paulk and Natalie Richey; sisters: Janell Rowe, Fitzgerald and Julie Warren, Duncan, OK. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Walker.
