Obituary

Boylston - Betty L. (Clapp) Bouchard passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the age of 82. She was the widow of Albert F. Bouchard, Jr. (1993). She leaves four sons, John R. Bouchard of Boylston, Paul A. Bouchard of Worcester, Mark S. Bouchard of Cumberland, RI, and David A. Bouchard of Shell Lake, WI; a sister Marjorie True of Natick; 7 grandchildren, Walter, Emily, Riley, Allison, Elise, Amy, and Jeremy; and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her son James (1984) and many siblings.

Betty was born in Framingham, daughter of Jennie (Thompson) and Stanley Clapp. She earned her Bachelor's degree at Boston University in Education, taught in public schools, and coordinated the Worcester Head Start program during the 1960's. Betty was active in the town of Boylston, serving on the School Committee, volunteering at the public library and delivering food for Rachel’s Table. She also kept busy in retirement, traveling, taking classes, reading and enjoying crossword puzzles. An avid gardener, her backyard was once compared to a cover of Better Homes and Gardens and attracted many visitors.

Funeral services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Calling hours will be on Sunday, May 23, from 4-7 p.m. The service will be on Monday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
