Gilford, NH---Shirley Bowen, 76, of 200 Edgewater Drive, Gilford, NH and Venice, Florida, died at her home on Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
Shirley was born on November 7, 1933 in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Norman and Ivy (Tree) Lowell. She lived in Burlington, Mass. for many years before moving to Gilford twenty-two years ago. She worked in retail management at Almy, Bigelow & Washburn for fifteen years before she retired.
Shirley was a direct descendant of the N.H. heroine Hannah Dustin and was an avid antique enthusiast. She was a member of the Governor’s Island Club.
Survivors include her loving husband , Robert Bowen, of Gilford, NH and Venice, Florida; two daughters, Diane Boardman and her husband, John, of Georgetown, Mass. and Linda Brady and her companion, James McCarthy, of Burlington, Mass; a son, Robert Bowen II, and his wife, LuAnn, of Hudson, N.H.; five grandchildren, Christine Gonzales and her husband, Edwin, Michael Bowen and his wife, Renee, Johnny Boardman and his companion, Isa, Keith Bowen and his companion, Julie, and Leah Brady and her companion, Charles, and four great grandchildren, Shane, Isabel, Samantha and Christina.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 3:00-5:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00AM at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford. N.H. Rev. Michael Graham, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, N. H.
