SALEM - Helen E. (Dylingowski) McLaughlin, 92, of Salem, wife of James P. McLaughlin, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home after four years of loving care by the staff.
Born in Salem, Helen was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Pinkos) Dylingowski.
Mrs. McLaughlin owned and operated ABC Nursery School in her home on Memorial Drive for more than 20 years. ABC was one of the first nursery schools established in Salem and Helen was proud of the fact that many of her former students kept in touch with her over the years.
A lifelong resident of the city, she was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a member of the Polish Falcons, Nest #188, of Salem.
Besides her husband, with whom she shared almost 65 years of marriage, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Mary McLaughlin of Dover, one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon McLaughlin-Maguire and James Maguire of Salem, three grandchildren, Julie McLaughlin Cox and her husband Christopher Cox of Needham, Victoria Maguire of Washington, DC , Conor Maguire of West Hartford, CT, two sisters, Alyce Norris and Virginia Kelly, both of Salem and many nieces and nephews. Helen was the sister of the late William Dylengoski, Joseph R. Dylengoski, Richard Dylengoski, John W. Dylingowski and Stella O’Shea.
Her funeral service will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem. Visiting Hours are Sunday from 2 to 6 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
