Dartmouth-Abel C. Ponte age 63 years, died peacefully at home on Wednesday May 19, 2010. Abel was the beloved husband of Maria (Resendes) Ponte of Dartmouth. He was the loved father of Rosemary Giusti of New Bedford and Jason Ponte of Dartmouth. He was the loving grandfather of Dantae and Giavanna Giusti. Abel was the brother of Henri Francois of Dartmouth. He is also survived by 2 nephews.
Mr. Ponte was the son of the late Maria (Piedade) and Manuel Ponte. He was born in Loulé, Portugal and has lived here for 39 years. He was the Dock Master at Pope’s Island Mariner.
Mr. Ponte’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Saturday at 8 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 6-9 P.M.
