Obituary


WORCESTER__Harry J. Burnell, 90 of Worcester, died peacefully Monday, May 17, 2010. His wife of fifty-six years, Jane T. (Bonczek) died in 2001. He leaves his two daughters, Susan Fairbanks and her husband, Richard of Auburn, Mary Jane Urban, with whom he lived; a grand-daughter, Robin Conkey and her husband, Joe of Sutton; a grandson, Michael Urban of Somerville; four great grandchildren, Andrew, Danielle, Teresa and Kaitlyn Conkey, all of Sutton; a sister, Margaret Pudell of SC; a brother, Edward Burnell of Holden and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burnell was born in Centerpoint, Iowa, a son of J. Oscar and Anna (Laeder) Burnell. During World War II, he served as a Sergeant in the US Signal Corps and on reinlistment was designated US Air Force. He worked as a truck driver for New England Plating, and later at Duquette Service Station. Before retiring in 1987, he worked for many years as a die cutter at Lewcott Chemical, formerly Eli Sandman Co. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Harry enjoyed wood working and collecting model trains. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May, 21, from HENRY- DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church or Children’s Friend, Inc., 21 Cedar St., Worcester, MA, 01609.
